Glossary

Key terms and definitions for intent monitoring, buyer intent detection, and social listening. Learn the language of finding qualified leads from social conversations.

Buying Intent

Signals that indicate someone is actively looking to purchase a product or service. These signals appear in online conversations when users ask for recommendations, compare options, mention budgets, or describe pain points they need solved.

Signal

A post or comment that our AI has verified shows genuine buying intent. Unlike raw mentions, signals have passed through AI analysis and relevance scoring. Each signal represents a qualified opportunity worth responding to.

Mention

Any post or comment containing your tracked keywords. Mentions include noise like spam, jokes, and irrelevant context. CatchIntent processes thousands of mentions to surface only the signals that matter.

Listener

Your custom monitoring configuration that runs 24/7. A Listener defines the keywords to track, platforms to monitor, and criteria for what makes a good signal. Think of it as a smart search that never stops.

Relevance Score

A 0-100 score assigned by our AI to each signal indicating how relevant it is to your product or service. Higher scores indicate stronger buying intent. You can set a threshold to only receive signals above a certain score.

Intent Type

The category of buying intent detected in a signal. Types include: Buying (ready to purchase), Comparing (evaluating options), Researching (gathering information), Asking (seeking help), and Complaining (frustrated with alternatives).

Intent Monitoring

The practice of tracking online conversations to identify when potential customers are actively looking to purchase. Unlike social listening that focuses on brand mentions, intent monitoring uses AI to detect buying signals.

Social Listening

Tracking brand mentions and sentiment across social platforms. Traditional social listening focuses on what people say about your brand. Intent monitoring goes further by identifying people looking for solutions like yours.

Pipeline

CatchIntent's built-in lightweight CRM for tracking signals from discovery to close. Stages include New, Reached Out, Replied, and Won/Lost. Use Pipeline to manage your signal workflow without needing a separate CRM.

Workspace

Your team's shared environment in CatchIntent. A Workspace contains your Listeners, signals, Pipeline, team members, and integrations. Billing is managed at the Workspace level.

Platform

A social media site that CatchIntent monitors for buying intent. Supported platforms include Reddit, X (Twitter), Hacker News, and Bluesky. X is included in Basic and Pro plans. LinkedIn intelligence is available via Agentic Search.

Alert

A notification sent when CatchIntent detects a new signal matching your Listener criteria. Alerts can be delivered via Email, Slack, Discord, Telegram, or webhooks.

Integration

A connection between CatchIntent and another tool in your workflow. Current integrations include Slack, Discord, Email, Telegram, and webhooks. CRM integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce) are coming soon.

Webhook

A way to send signal data to any external system via HTTP. Webhooks enable custom integrations with your existing tools, CRMs, or automation platforms like Zapier and Make.
