Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Reddit sentiment analysis work?
We fetch the 50 most recent hot posts from the subreddit and use AI to analyze the sentiment of each post title and body text. The AI classifies each post as positive, negative, or neutral, identifies recurring themes, and generates an overall sentiment score from -1 (very negative) to +1 (very positive).
What does the sentiment score mean?
The sentiment score ranges from -1.0 (very negative) to +1.0 (very positive), with 0 being neutral. Scores above +0.2 indicate generally positive sentiment, while scores below -0.2 suggest negative sentiment. Scores between -0.2 and +0.2 indicate neutral or mixed feelings.
How often is the sentiment data updated?
Sentiment analysis results are cached for 6 hours to ensure fresh insights while managing API costs. Each analysis samples the most recent hot posts from the subreddit.
Can I use this for any subreddit?
Yes, you can analyze any public subreddit. Private or quarantined subreddits may not be accessible. The tool works best on subreddits with active discussions.
What are the top themes?
Top themes are the most frequently discussed topics in the subreddit, each tagged with its associated sentiment. This helps you quickly understand what the community is talking about and how they feel about each topic.
Is there a limit to how many analyses I can run?
Yes, free users can run 1 sentiment analysis per day. Need unlimited analysis? Check out our plans for automated sentiment monitoring.
